Nagaaki Yamamoto Emergency Care Unit – Arachchikanda Hospital
Following the disastrous Tsunami that affected the lives of thousands of ordinary Sri Lankans, JASTECA learnt that several lives of persons who were brought to the Arachchikanda rural hospital in the southern coastal area of Hikkaduwa was lost due to lack of emergency care facilities.
Therefore a decision was taken to construct a fully equipped Emergency Care Unit (ECU) for this Hospital, in memory of the late President of AOTS Japan, Mr. Nagaaki Yamamoto who unreservedly helped and assisted JASTECA from the inception.
With the support of JASTECA members, well wishers and JASTECA Funds, this project was completed and ceremonially handed over to the Hospital authorities in November 2008.
The total project cost was over USD 55,000, most of which was made from the JASTECA internal funds. Any well wisher desirous of making any contribution to this fund is most welcome to do so.
