Japan Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association, established in 1984 is a non profit service organization and functions as the alumni of the Oversea Human Resources & Industry Development Association (HIDA)Japan. The Executive Committee and the membership of JASTECA consists of returned trainees of AOTS/HIDA scholarship programs, who have volunteered their services to coordinate scholarship activities and also to disseminate the knowledge and expertise gained in Japan to other Sri Lankans.

JASTECA - Over 25 years of service commitment to the Nation
Japan Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA) completed over 25 years of useful service to the Nation. During this period of its existence, JASTECA has become a word synonymous for excellence in Human Resource Development among most established Corporates as well as Government and Small & Medium scale Industry. These organizations turn to JASTECA particularly to acquire expertise in Japanese Management Systems and transfer of Japanese Technology. To-date over 3500 Sri Lankans have been trained in Japan on a multitude of management disciplines as well as on specialized tailor made training in Entrepreneurship, Plantation Management, Apparel Industry Management, Development Banking etc.
JASTECA in Sri Lanka is considered to be one of the most active and best alumni societies in the world network of alumni societies of AOTS/HIDA. In addition to being the beneficiary of scholarships for training in Japan. AOTS/HIDA has helped JASTECA to train over 5000 persons through workshops and seminars conducted in Sri Lanka by experts sent from Japan and other affiliated organizations. Some of the specialized workshops conducted were on Repair and Maintenance of Agricultural Machinery with Kubota Ltd., Automobile and Commercial Vehicle Repairs with Mitsubishi and Nissan, Electronic and Telecommunication Equipment with Fujitsu, and Apparel Industry machinery and equipment with Juki, Brother and Pegasus Companies of Japan.
In the year 2002, JASTECA had the distinction of hosting the 3 day 6th World Convention of AOTS Alumni Societies in Colombo, Sri Lanka; where over 250 foreign delegates from 54 countries participated. The entire operation was coordinated and organized meticulously by JASTECA.
